The Hastings City Council discussed the Highway 61 reconstruction project with the Minnesota Department of Transportation at their meeting Monday, which included a presentation about the project goals, timeline, and more.
Councilman Dave Pemble said on Community In Depth on KDWA the MNDoT talked about how the project is now on a two-year timeline, and one of the difficulties that goes along with a major project of this size and importance is not just the road replacement, it is what the city can look like after it is completed.
Pemble also said the balance of what the DoT is trying to do with the major roadway and the impact it can create on local residents is a tightrope.
