Miesville Qualifies for State Tournament with Blowout Victory Sunday Over New Market

The Miesville Mudhens are back in the class A state tournament with a 10-2 victory over the New Market Muskies on Sunday as heard live on KDWA and on the KDWA YouTube stream. The Mudhens took an early lead, plating five runs in the second inning off of just one hit taking advantage of three errors by New Market, with Evan Nelson getting an RBI on a sacrifice fly, and Alex Hendrickson an RBI on a fielder’s choice to take a 5-0 lead. The bats woke up in the fourth, with Hendrickson getting a bases-loaded single to drive in two more runs, and Joey Werner driving in another on a single to lead 8-0. The Mudhens extended the lead on an Evan Nelson solo homerun to lead 9-0, before New Market was able to get on the board in the sixth with an unearned run after an error. Ben Vujovich drove in a run in the seventh to lead 10-1, and New Market plated a run in the ninth but it was way too little, way too late as the Mudhens closed it out for the victory.

The win qualifies the Mudhens to the class A state tournament, and will earn either the #1 or #2 seed from the section, with the determining game this Friday.
