The new look Prescott Cardinals football team couldn’t keep up with the reigning state runner-up Northwestern Tigers in their season opening clash as heard live on KDWA and on the KDWA YouTube stream on Friday night, falling 57-14. The Tigers scored on the opening possession, then after a Prescott punt scored again, and a Cardinals turnover led to another touchdown with the lead getting to 24-0 in the opening minutes. Northwestern scored again on the first play of the second quarter to lead 30-0, but the Cardinals got their first score 2026 on a 92-yard kickoff return touchdown by Wyatt Budworth to cut the lead to 30-6. The second half was a much slower affair, with Northwestern being more methodical in another multiple touchdown drives off of Prescott turnovers, but the Cardinals offense finally found paydirt in the fourth on a Charlie Rohl 1-yard touchdown rush.
Prescott falls to 0-1 to start the season, and will have yet another test on Friday night on the road at Prairie du Chien.
