The City of Hastings says progress continues for the 2026 Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvement Project.
Last week crews completed concrete curb and driveway work on Pleasant Drive and began grading the road base in preparation for paving.
On 4th Street, affected homes were connected to a temporary water system, and watermain improvements got underway.
For the week of August 3rd, watermain work will continue on 4th Street, with sanitary sewer improvements also beginning.
Crews will also start boulevard restoration and prepare for a new trail along Pleasant Drive.
Weather permitting, Pleasant Drive is scheduled to receive its base layer of asphalt on Tuesday, August 4. Residents along the street should watch for additional information delivered to their homes.
Drivers are reminded there will be no parking on Pleasant Drive from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on paving day.
For residents of Pleasant Drive between 4th Street and Frontage Road, the City notes, all driveways will be open by the end of the day on Monday, August 3.
During Tuesdays’ paving operations, impacted residents may park in their driveway or may continue to use the temporary driveways if a resident’s main driveway is not open.
If a driveway has a “gap” in between the concrete and asphalt, the gap will be temporarily filled with gravel to ensure access.
The intersection of Pleasant Drive and Fourth Street will remain closed until paving is complete, with reopening expected by the end of the day Tuesday, August 4, for local traffic.
The city also asks residents not to disturb construction stakes and to avoid parking on streets under construction between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
