Hastings Family Service has another successful Drive Out Hunger golf tournament in the books.

The sixth annual fundraiser, held June 8 at Hastings Golf Club, raised more than $19,000 to help fight food insecurity in the community.
Hastings Family Service Director of Philanthropy DawnMarie Vihrachoff says 82 golfers turned out despite the threat of rain, adding the money comes at a critical time as families face increased food needs during the summer months.
Vihrachoff says $20 can provide 12 free summer lunches for local children.
The event featured golf, raffles, contests, dinner and a special story walk highlighting the organization’s support services.
Executive Director Amy Sutton told participants the need continues to grow, noting HFS food programs served more than 1,000 households in April alone.
The Radke and Mohrhauser team won the tournament with a score of 63.
Hastings Family Service thanked golfers, sponsors and volunteers for helping “Drive Out Hunger.”
Registration for next year’s event is expected to open in April.
