Election for Prescott’s Next Mayor Ends in a Tie

The City of Prescott and Prescott School Board elections were held Tuesday, which included a tie for the position of Mayor. The Mayor election was tied after the counting of all ballots, with both Michael Gerke and Baily Ruona ending with 397 votes.

Dan Hintz ran unopposed for Ward 3 and was elected with 143 votes, Lindsey Sorenson was unopposed in Ward 4 and received 119 votes, while Brad Stubbe was the only candidate for one seat on the Prescott School Board and received 1,304 votes.

To resolve the tie, the City of Prescott will find a date where both candidates are available and break a tie with chance, such as flipping a coin. A date for the resolution of the tie will be announced as soon as it is available.
