The Hastings boys hockey team had their season come to a close Tuesday evening, falling to Mahtomedi 5-1 in the section semifinal round as heard live on KDWA. The Raiders matched up well with the Zephyrs in the first period with even possession and a 0-0 score going into the second period, which is when Mahtomedi took control. Relentless possession and a constant barrage of shots at goaltender Charlie Stoffell finally found the back of the net twice to lead 2-0 going into the third, then added two more before Raiders forward Brecken Fullerton scored to make it 4-1. Mahtomedi added an empty-net goal to get to the final tally.
Hastings head coach Matt Klein said he knows his seniors battled the whole way through and it was a joy to be a part of their senior season.
The Raiders end the season with a record of 14-13-1.
