KDWA received word early last week that Carbone’s may be moving out of Hastings. To verify this
claim, KDWA reached out to various city leaders, as well as Pizza on 50th & France, Inc. dba Carbone’s Pizza proprietors Rich and Jenn Magnuson. There will be more information from these sources in future reports.
From the City of Hastings, the city claims it has not received an update on any possible new location of Carbone’s over the last several weeks.
The building, now demolished, and property located at 1290 North Frontage Road that housed both Carbone’s and Stacy Stars Dance Studio was bought by the city in 2025. Both businesses had their leases terminated in order for the city to build a central water treatment plant at the site. Carbone’s filed a lawsuit against the city, citing loss of income and the termination of the lease.
City of Hastings Community Development Director John Hinzman said the city is working to help find Carbone’s a new location.
“We’ve been in contact with them to try to find them a place in Hastings for the last year and a half or so. We haven’t had much recent conversation with them, so I’m not aware of any place they are going within town at this point.”
Hinzman said he knows there is an active lawsuit against the city, but they are still willing to help find Carbone’s a new location.
“The lawsuit that they have brought against the city is still ongoing; I don’t recall exactly where we are at on that one. In our dealings with Carbone’s, we respect their ability to present a lawsuit on us, but we still wanted to be helpful with them in trying to find a place if they can and want to be in Hastings.”
Hinzman claimed he was not aware of any potential relocation to Prior Lake for Carbone’s.
KDWA will have more on this report in future updates.
