Hastings Family Service says registration opens August 3, 2026, for its annual back-to-school
supply program serving families in the Hastings School District.
According to the nonprofit, parents and guardians who live in the district or have students attending ISD 200 can call to register for assistance. School supply distribution is scheduled for the week of August 17, when students can pick out some of their own supplies, receive a Culver’s frozen custard token, and receive a coupon for one free clothing item at Rivertown Treasures.
Hastings Family Service says it helped 306 students and 73 teachers through the program last year and expects similar demand this year, with a growing need among middle and high school students for items such as backpacks and advanced calculators.
Hastings Family Service is also asking the community to donate new school supplies through August 11. Financial gifts made through July 31 will qualify for the Open Your Heart Summer Challenge matching program.
In addition, Hastings Family Service is partnering with Dakota County Public Health to host a free and low-cost childhood vaccination clinic on August 17.
The nonprofit is also helping families register preschoolers at Tilden Community Preschool with no registration fee.
More information about these programs is available by calling Hastings Family Service or visiting the Hastings Family Service website.
