Hastings ISD 200 Prepares for Back-to-School With Open Houses and Staggered Start Dates

It’s that time of year, folks—back to school!

College students are beginning their first day of classes, and Hastings ISD 200 schools are getting ready to welcome students and families with open houses and resource fairs.

The Hastings Middle School Open House will be Tuesday, August 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Students and families can pick up maps of the middle school and bingo boards at the welcome table. Students will have an opportunity to visit classrooms, meet their teachers, practice their locker combinations, and explore the school.

An activities and resource fair will also be held in the middle school cafeteria. Families can learn more about athletics, get help with Schoology and Infinite Campus, and have their technology questions answered.

The Hastings High School Open House will be Wednesday, August 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., and is open to all high school students.

A meeting for 9th grade students and new families will be held in the auditorium from 5 to 5:45 p.m.

Students and families are encouraged to print schedules ahead of time, explore the school, meet teachers, and locate classrooms. The open house will also feature an information and resource fair highlighting athletics, clubs, and other school activities.

For students at Kennedy, McAuliffe, and Pinecrest Elementary Schools, Raider-Set-Go Days will be held August 31 and September 1.

During these two days, every student in kindergarten through fourth grade will have the opportunity for a dedicated 25-minute appointment to explore their classroom, meet their teacher, and bring in school supplies.

Students will also learn some classroom routines for the school year and have an opportunity to ask questions about the first day of school.

Elementary student parents and guardians should check their email for a first-day-of-school message from the district. That email includes a link to schedule an appointment for each student.

And remember, there will be staggered start dates for ISD 200 students.

For grades 5 and 9, the first day of school is Monday, August 31.

For grades 6 through 8 and grades 10 through 12, the first day is Tuesday, September 1.

And for kindergarten through fourth grade, the first day back is Wednesday, September 2.

So, as the new school year gets underway, students and families are encouraged to take advantage of these open houses.
