Nearly 20 fire departments battled a massive blaze in Cottage Grove on Friday night.
The fire, located on Lawton Avenue South off Manning Avenue between the central portions of both Cottage Grove and Hastings, involved a garage that was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. According to multiple reports, police arrived first and managed to evacuate the residents. No injuries were reported.
Due to the size of the fire and the weather conditions, fire departments from all across Dakota, Washington and Ramsey counties responded to provide manpower and assistance due to limited hydrant coverage in the area and to help as the wind driven fire spread. The Hastings Fire Department was one of those departments.
The fire remains under investigation.
