Miesville Dominates, Hastings American Legion Falls to Farmington

The Hastings American Legion baseball team fell to Farmington Red in their opening round game of the Sub-state 6 qualifying tournament, dropping the contest 5-1 after receiving an opening round bye. Raiders pitcher Brady Hendrickson threw seven innings giving up eight hits, but none of the five runs surrendered were earned, and they would earn only three hits at the plate, with Gunnar Skov, Colton McKnight, and Zander McVicker each earning a hit. The Raiders will now take on East Ridge Black in an elimination round contest today at 4:30pm at Vets Park.

The Miesville Mudhens used patient at-bats to get out in front of the Stillwater Indians Wednesday evening as heard live on KDWA and on the KDWA YouTube stream, winning 12-2 in seven innings. The Mudhens plated three runs on six walks in the first inning, got an RBI hit by Joey Werner and another from Evan Nelson to lead 6-0 after the second. Miesville then scored four in the third, with Werner hitting a bases-clearing three-RBI double, another run scored on an error in the fourth, and they added the final on a Brock Rinehart RBI single in the sixth to get to the 10-run mark. Connor Malcolm got the win on the mound going five innings allowing just one run. Miesville is now 22-3 on the season and winners of seven in a row, and will match up with Baseball 365 tomorrow.
