Miesville Holds on For Victory at Lakeville

The Miesville Mudhens held on for a 5-4 victory on the road at the Lakeville Loonatics on Sunday, which included a first ever homerun at the new Belzer Stadium in Lakeville as heard live on KDWA and on the KDWA YouTube stream.

Miesville got ahead early, scoring a run on an RBI single by Brandon Lunneborg in the second inning to lead 1-0, then Lunneborg drove in two more in the fourth on a double and he was eventually driven home on an Alex Mezzetti sacrifice fly for the Mudhens to lead 4-0 after four. The first ever homerun at the ballpark was smashed over the fence in the fifth by Lucas McNellis in the fifth, as Miesville looked to be in full control leading 5-0. The Loonatics did not go away quietly however, they plated two runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to 5-2, scored another in the eighth, and one more in the ninth and had the tying-run on base but a strikeout ended the game and preserved the win for Miesville. Jac Wright got the win on the mound, while Lunneborg paced the offense with a 2-2 day driving in three. The Mudhens build another win streak up to six games, and are comfortably atop the section and Classic Cannon Valley standings. They will host the Shakopee Indians on Wednesday.
