In Hastings, a missing person’s report on Friday prompted a multiday search by multiple police
departments along the Mississippi River, which spanned west of the dam, along federal land, and to the marina. According to the police department, the missing man has been identified as Mark Morris. Deputy Chief Brian Schowalter spoke with KDWA about the search for Mark Morris:
“We continue to search for him; unfortunately, we don’t have anything new at this time. And I know, we just discussed a moment ago, the weather for the next 24–48 hours is probably going to be a significant hindrance for us as we look for any clue or indication as to where he has been. We have pushed out a nationwide missing person alert. So we are hoping that if he’s out and about, someone sees him; that would give us some assistance in locating him as well. We are constantly in communication with the family, who’s been very, very helpful with anything we’ve needed, and try to gain any additional information. I’m hoping that we can bring closure to the family in the near future.”
