Authorities in Red Wing say a local business owner is facing major drug charges following a law enforcement
operation conducted Thursday morning.
According to the Red Wing Police Department, officers worked with U.S. Homeland Security Investigations and the Minnesota Southeast Violent Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant and arrest operation at Red Wing Glass on Old Zumbrota Street around 7:50 a.m. on May 29th.
Police say the owner of the business, 53-year-old Shawn Goulette, was taken into custody. During the search, investigators reportedly found approximately five pounds of suspected methamphetamine and seized a large amount of cash.
Goulette was booked into the Goodhue County Adult Detention Center and is facing first-degree controlled substance sales and first-degree controlled substance possession charges.
Authorities also carried out a separate search warrant at a residence in Pierce County, Wisconsin, with assistance from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
Red Wing Police Chief Nick Sather says the amount of suspected methamphetamine recovered posed a serious threat to public safety and says the investigation demonstrates the department’s commitment to disrupting drug trafficking in the community. Sather also thanked Homeland Security Investigations for its assistance.
Officials say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
As always, all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
