Raider Spotlight from the December 17th School Board Meeting

On December 17th there was a regular Hastings School Board meeting.

In the Raiders Spotlight, Assistant Principal and Director of Athletics Trent Hanson showcased the accomplishments of the state athletic champions Chloe Arness and Nolan St. Sauver.

Chloe Arness has set eight different records in swimming and diving, and even has broken her own record from a previous year. Hason said, “It’s rare for a diver to also be a swimmer,” and that Chloe is “one heck of an athlete.”

Nolan St. Sauver couldn’t attend the school board meeting, but Hanson spoke about St. Sauver’s accomplishments. In adapted soccer, St. Sauver scored 11 goals during a single game. HCTV will interview and highlight Nolan St. Sauver in their 2025 recap coverage of the athletic program.

KDWA caught up with Chloe Arness and Brianna Arness, Chloe’s mom and coach.

Chloe shares how it feels about setting and breaking records, which includes a record set by her own mother and coach.

While discussing the importance of building a strong athletic foundation in high school, KDWA asked Chloe about her future plans.

Chloe explains her inspiration to pursue swimming and diving, and what it means to be recognized in the Raider Spotlight.

Brianna Arness shared how it feels to be the mom and coach of Chloe Arness.
