On Thursday, February 5th, the Hastings High School concert band and varsity band participated in the
ERHS Youth Band Festival.
This was an opportunity for band students to perform and listen for other band students.
The clinician at this event was Dr. Kara Metzger, Director of Athletic Band at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. After each performance, Dr. Metzger offered feedback to the bands and then directed the bands through each critique so the students could practice and hear the improvements.
Dr. Metzger offers a preview of the event and shares what she enjoys about the Youth Band Festival.
Jim Jacobson, band director at Hastings High School, explains why the Hastings High School band returns to the Youth Band Festival year after year.
