You might have noticed that the scaffolding at Hastings City Hall came down. Justin Fortney, City
Planner for the City of Hastings, shared an update with KDWA about this project.
“You’ve probably seen that the scaffolding is coming down from the building. It took a couple of years to do the metalwork on the corner domes and the center dome. Mostly because it’s very specialized work and there’s not a lot of people that do that. So, the companies that do (specialized work) have smaller crews than newer constructions, where they come in with a huge amount of people and do it quickly,” explained Fortney. “With the finalization of the roofing, we’re going to move onto the inside of the building to have some plasterwork repaired from past leaks. The weather has cooperated pretty well, and everything has been completed on schedule.”
