The Dakota Side by Side and ATV Club is preparing for their community events. The Rib Fest and Ride Barbecue
Contest is happening Sunday, October 4, at the Little Log House Pioneer Village.
KDWA spoke with club board member Ryan Young, who says the group was formed to bring ATV enthusiasts together while giving back to the community.
“So we were looking for a good way to give back to the community and still be able to get together in the summer, and so most of us have ATVs, four-wheelers, and the like, and so we have decided to band together, form the Dakota ATV and Side by Side Club, and we’ve been in existence probably officially a little over a year now. But we started the formation about two years ago.”
Young says the club has raised about $18,500 for the Hastings and Miesville Fire Departments. This year’s event will feature an ATV ride, barbecue competition, classic cars, live music, and more.
The barbecue competition kicks off at 8 a.m. with the ATV ride gathering at 10:30 a.m. and the ride getting underway about, you know, 10:45 to 11 a.m. The ride is open to the public and club members.
“This year, we are trying to go bigger and better, and we are combining that ride with a social event for club and guests. So we have invited the public to October 4th, which is at the Little Longhouse Village.”
Live music begins at 2 p.m. Rib tasting starts at 3 p.m. Judging is at 4 p.m., and this event wraps up by 6 p.m.
Young says the club continues to focus on supporting local organizations.
“We’re always taking members for the ATV Club; we meet on the second Thursday of every month, and that information, as far as where the meeting is taking place, is always posted on our website. We’re a good group of local folks that like giving back, so almost 95% of all of our funds go back directly to local communities such as the fire departments and some other local charities.”
