The Miesville Mudhens fell to Elko at The Jack in the section championship game Friday evening 4-1 as heard live on KDWA and the KDWA YouTube stream.
The bats just did not get hot for the Mudhens, who got off to a good start with a 1-0 lead in the first inning after an RBI single by Ronnie Sweeny to score Ben Vujovich, but they were unable to push another run across as they stranded nine on the basepaths. Elko tied the score in the fifth inning, then plated three runs in a disaster inning for Miesville, where a walk, an error, and a wild pitch on a strikeout allowed three runs to score and get to the final tally.
Jac Wright took the tough luck loss on the mound, while Sweeny led the offense with two hits.
Miesville now awaits their state tournament seeding and opponent in Sunday’s selection show from the Minnesota Baseball Association.
