If you’re looking to cast a line before summer winds down, Dakota County still has plenty of great fishing
opportunities.
Several county parks offer accessible fishing piers, including Thompson County Park, Lake Byllesby, and McDonough and Holland lakes in Lebanon Hills Regional Park.
The accessible piers feature lower railings designed to make fishing ADA and wheelchair accessible—so every angler has the opportunity to enjoy some fishing.
County officials are also encouraging anglers to help protect Minnesota’s lakes and wildlife by switching to lead-free fishing tackle. Lead-free alternatives can help reduce the risk to loons and other wildlife that can accidentally ingest lost tackle.
More information about the state’s lead-free tackle program is available through the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
