Support for the staff recommendation to operate only the 18-day Early Voting within the 46-day Absentee Voting period for the City of Hastings. Background Information: During the most recent legislative session, the State adopted HF 4240. This legislation allows municipalities to choose to conduct 18 days of in-person Early Voting or continue administering inperson absentee voting for 46 days, as was previously required under State law. Absentee voting in person and by mail will continue to be available to voters for 46 days through Dakota County regardless of the municipality decision. The change would be an operational decision by municipalities. Municipalities are required to inform the county if they wish to adopt the 18-day early voting model by June 12, 2026.
